Hardy Signs has been working with East Staffordshire Borough Council’s Environmental Services to apply new recycling signs to its fleet of 12 collection vehicles.
As part of the Council’s commitment to increasing recycling and composting, residents are being encouraged to use new blue bins to collect a wide range of materials that can now be efficiently recycled.
The new signage affixed to the sides of the vehicles was designed by Tom Hardy and emphasizes the advantages of recycling to ‘cut carbon footprints; produce less waste; and save resources’.
The design and graphics complement ESBC’s own promotional material for its blue bin recycling campaign – aptly called, the ‘Alternate Weekly Collection Service’. This sees the introduction of the bright blue bins on a bi-weekly collection, replacing the former recycling boxes, for cans, jars, bottles, empty aerosols, cardboard and plastics, and even Tetra packs.
Working in Millers Yard off Derby Street, the Hardy installation team carefully removed existing signs on the vehicles and replaced them with full-colour printed exterior grade cut and printed vinyl signage. This features the two adult characters, male and female, ‘launched’ with the campaign, who carry the messages and advice to residents and explain how the new scheme will be operated.
Forward planning saw the signs fitted without causing any disturbance to tightly scheduled daily collection service for Burton and District.
Residents are being directed to ESBC’s Recycling web site at www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk, where more information can be found.
Nik Hardy, MD at Hardy Signs added, “This initiative by ESBC to introduce its new Collection Service is an excellent example of the Council’s go-ahead approach in the all-important area of recycling and removing waste.
“Increasing recycling and composting performance in the District is challenging; and, if our signage can make a contribution to achieving the Council’s goals, then it will be worth its weight in gold”. |
