A young award winning photographer from Stapenhill is having his first photographic
exhibition, with the assistance of Burton’s leading sign makers, Hardy Signs, at the newly named Stapenhill Health and Wellbeing Centre on Hill Street.
But, there is one major difference. South Staffordshire PCT has rewarded Philip Manning for his excellent images by hanging them in their new centre
Philip, 13, who attends Paulet High School, became interested in photography two years ago and last year won British Photographic Society Junior Photographer of the Year 2007- 2008 with his amazing image, ‘Autumn Shadow’.
He uses his Minolta Compact 8 megapixel camera to take top class photos of local
landscapes, and scenes, as well as close-ups that have made some stunning images
when enlarged and mounted on canvas.
Burton’s leading sign company, Hardy Signs took an initial series of 19 of Philip’s images transforming them into canvas prints to be hung at the medical centre.
“Hardy Signs did an expert job on mounting and producing the canvas versions of my
photos”, said the delighted young photographer, “ and the results are so good that I’m now looking at producing a second series”.
Nik Hardy, MD of Hardy Signs said, “Not only has Philip an excellent eye for the best angle, but he also uses his current camera to its full potential”.
“The image quality and fine detail are superb. It made our job of printing the canvasses straightforward. There was no question about asking Philip to increase the size of the files for these photos - they were all high resolution and the best quality we have seen for many months”.
The exhibition has given Philip an additional confidence boost to pursue a career in
photgraphy: and with his new Canon 350D SLR even more outstanding images
are expected from this young photographer, photos can already be seen online at

On a separate but related project, Hardy Signs designed, manufactured and installed the new external signs at the Medical Centre which changed its name to Stapenhill Health and Wellbeing Centre to reflect the new health services that are provided.
The new signage was made from white Dibond with pre-positioned locators for fixing in
place high above the main entrance. |
